Ζορζ (Ζαν-Λουί Τρεντινιάν) και η Αν (Εμανουέλ Ριβά) είναι ένα ηλικιωμένο ζευγάρι που έχει περάσει τα ογδόντα. Είναι καθηγητές μουσικής που έχουν πια αποσυρθεί. Η κόρη τους (Ιζαμπέλ Ιπέρ), η οποία είναι επίσης μουσικός, μένει με την οικογένειά της στο εξωτερικό. Μια μέρα η Αν θα βιώσει ένα δυσάρεστο γεγονός, το οποίο θα θέσει σε δοκιμασία την αγάπη που ενώνει το ζευγάρι.

Η πιο αρνητική μου εμπειρία μέχρι τώρα, από ότι έχω παρακολουθήσει στο TIFF 2012, κάτι που βασίζεται κυρίως στις πολύ υψηλές προσδοκίες που είχα από τον Αυστριακό γκραντμάστερ Mikael Haneke. Το Amour υπήρξε ο μεγάλος θριαμβευτής των φετινών Καννών κατακτώντας τον Χρυσό Φοίνικα, ενώ προβάλλει ήδη ως το αδιαφιλονίκητο φαβορί της Οσκαρικής κατηγορίας μη αγγλόφωνης παραγωγής. Παρόλα αυτά δεν είμαι ακόμη πεπεισμένος για την ιδιοσυγκρασία του έργου ή για να το θέσω πιο ωμά δεν αισθάνομαι αυτό το amour όταν δεν το βλέπω. Όντας κάτι παραπάνω από εξοικειωμένος με ασθενείς πάσχοντες από την νόσο Αλτζχάιμερ και με περιστατικά αγγειακού εγκεφαλικού επεισοδίου στο στενό οικογενειακό μου περιβάλλον, δεν κατάφερα να εντοπίσω το πως ο Haneke κατεύθυνε το ηλικιωμένο πάθος ανάμεσα σε δύο συνταξιούχους καθηγητές μουσικής, στην υπεράσπιση της αγάπης, μα ακριβώς το αντίθετο: Η αρρώστια επιφέρει κλιμακούμενη δυστυχία, φρίκη, παράνοια, ενώ δικαιολογεί ακόμη και τον φόνο. Δεν είμαι ηθικολόγος, αλλά δεν μπορώ να κλείσω τα μάτια στο γεγονός πως ο Haneke αποφεύγει συστηματικά την κάθαρση για να προμοτάρει την αποσύνθεση και την παραμόρφωση.
Ο σκηνοθέτης στην προφανή του προσπάθεια να μπολιάσει το φιλμ με τρυφερότητα και αγνό συναισθηματισμό, προδίδεται από την δική του ανικανότητα, εγκλωβισμένος στον μισανθρωπικό του μικρόκοσμο, να εντοπίσει τον καθαρισμό μέσα στον αλτρουισμό. Έτσι ο προτιμώμενος σχεδιασμός της σεναριακής του εξέλιξης, λειτουργεί περισσότερο ως μηχανορραφία, σαν σοκ για το σοκ, παρά ως ελεγεία της αγάπης. Φυσικά ο οτέρ γνωρίζει καλά που κρύβεται το κακό, γι αυτό και το έχει αποδώσει έντεχνα στα Dog Days, Funny Games, Cache και White Ribbon, ωστόσο η καθαρότητα της αγάπης μοιάζει ακόμη να τον περιπλέκει ως έννοια. Αφήνοντας κατά μέρος την απογοήτευση μου για την πιο ασήμαντη ερμηνεία της Isabelle Huppert στην καριέρα της, ως γεμάτη ανησυχίες κόρη του ζευγαριού, θαύμασα την Emmanuelle Riva (Hiroshima Mon Amour), που άφοβα εκτίθεται σε έναν εξαιρετικά απαιτητικό ρόλο της ετοιμοθάνατης γηραιάς κυρίας, ακολουθούμενη από τον Jean Luis Trintignant, που υποδύεται τον πολύπλοκου χαρακτήρα σύζυγό της.
