To Δημοτικό Περιφερειακό Θέατρο Πάτρας παρουσιάζει για δύο μόνο παραστάσεις το έργο του Ντέννις Κέλλυ Ορφανά, από το θέατρο του Νέου Κόσμου, σε σκηνοθεσία Βαγγέλη Θεοδωρόπουλου. Το έργο που παίχτηκε με μεγάλη επιτυχία στην Αθήνα και τη Θεσσαλονίκη παρουσιάζεται στην Πάτρα, τη Δευτέρα 12 και την Τρίτη 13 Μαρτίου 2012, στις 21:30.
Η Έλεν και ο Ντάννυ ζουν προστατευμένοι στον ωραίο κόσμο που έχουν φτιάξει με τον κόπο τους. Όμως ο έξω κόσμος θα εισβάλει μια μέρα βίαια στη ζωή τους, όταν θα εμφανιστεί μπροστά τους ο αδελφός της Έλεν, ο Λίαμ. Βουτηγμένος στα αίματα. Κι αυτή είναι μόνο η αρχή.
Ο Λίαμ τους λέει πως προσπάθησε να βοηθήσει έναν τραυματισμένο, καθώς προχωρά όμως η αφήγησή του, γίνεται φανερό πως είναι πολύ περισσότερο μπλεγμένος στην ιστορία. Τι στάση θα κρατήσει το ζευγάρι; Στην προσπάθεια να προστατέψουν τον «δικό τους άνθρωπο», την οικογένειά τους, η μια λάθος επιλογή ακολουθεί την άλλη, σαρώνοντας το γάμο τους και όλες τις βεβαιότητες της ζωής τους. Και καθώς το έργο εξελίσσεται σαν ένα θρίλερ της σύγχρονης πόλης, ξεπηδούν μια σειρά ερωτήματα που δεν έχουν εύκολη απάντηση: Τι σημαίνει να ζεις σε μια περιοχή όπου αισθάνεσαι ότι ανά πάσα στιγμή μπορούν να σου κάνουν κακό; Πόσο μας σκάβει ο φόβος και πού μπορεί να μας οδηγήσει; Τι είναι ο ρατσισμός και πότε χτυπάει την πόρτα μας; Μήπως προσπαθώντας να προφυλάξουμε τον εαυτό μας και τους δικούς μας ενάντια στους «άλλους» κινδυνεύουμε να διαπράξουμε τα χειρότερα; Πού πηγαίνουν οι αρχές μας όταν είμαστε υπό πίεση; Και ποιον μπορούμε να προστατέψουμε καταπατώντας τις αρχές μας; Ποιοι είναι τα ορφανά του έργου; Τα δυο αδέρφια που κάηκαν οι γονείς τους όταν ήταν παιδιά, το ζευγάρι που από τη μια στιγμή στην άλλη χάνει το έδαφος κάτω απ? τα πόδια του ή λίγο πολύ όλοι μας, εγκαταλειμμένοι από εκείνους που έπρεπε να μας φροντίσουν;
Ένα ψυχολογικό θρίλερ της σύγχρονης πόλης με πολιτικές διαστάσεις, που θριάμβευσε στο Φεστιβάλ Εδιμβούργου 2009 (βραβεία Fringe First και Herald Angel, και από τότε παίχτηκε σε δεκάδες ευρωπαϊκές σκηνές κι έφτασε ως την Αυστραλία και το Χονγκ Κονγκ.
